Loadman Fleet Manager
Release Notes
Note: The numbering system for the releases is as follows:
- The first number is changed when the overall scope and intent of the program is significantly changed.
- The second number is changed when there is a major database change or when a major function is modified and/or added.
- The third number is changed for corrections and minor changes that may or may not require a minor change to the database.
- If a version is marked with a 'v' then it
is database compatible with the previous versions down to and
including the most recent previous upgrade that does not have a 'v'.
Think of the small 'v' and meaning minor version or as pointing down to those
previous versions with which it is compatible.
for example, If the Master is running 4.17.34, then a Satellite running
4.17.35v will be able to connect. Similarly, a 4.17.34 Satellite can connect to
a 4.17.35v Master. in other words, The 'v' means that there was no
database change and that the release is compatible with the previous version(s).
This capability is only to simplify the timing of upgrades. it is still
desireable to have all your users running the same (The latest) version.
- If a version number is skipped, that indicates that it was an internal development release, all changes for internal releases will be noted in the next version that is publicly released.

- When manually re-geofencing loads, there is now a progress bar and the ability to cancel.
- The processing speed of LoadData has been dramatically increased. This is especially noticeable when a backlog is being processed.
- Note the maps are a cylindrical projection, so the GeoFence circles now correctly appear as ellipses on the maps.

Version 4.19.37v 12/03/08
- Modified the algorithm used to automatically generate loadnames during data import to improve performance. In cases were there were large numbers of loadnames for a single Customer, it could be very slow. In this case speed was increased by a factor of 40. Users with more typical data sets will see varying levels of improvement from 40 times to nothing.
- With some import data sets, the count of items being imported on the progress base was two times the actual number. This was cosmetic only, the import was correct and it stopped when the progress bars showed it as half done.
- Corrected a bug where the loadname base was lost when a Customer of type "has Sites" was manually added.
Version 4.19.36v 11/17/08
- Improved data import to allow some the fields to be optionally specified, it had been that they were either not imported or had to be provided for every record. The fields are Service Type, Frequency, Region, Type, and Zone.

- The license now resides in a sub-folder of the data folder named "License".
- It you applied an unnamed filter, the pervious filter name was shown. This has been corrected.
- You are no longer permitted to export "system format" data to a spreadsheet.
- After configuring an installation to be a satellite, it was possible that upon restart it would automatically re-login as the last user rather then show the new Masters users. This has been eliminated.
- All map view will now show the address under the mouse pointer (when it is not set to perform another function such as zoom) whenever it is stopped at one location for a second.
- In a system with satellites, resetting the command "tools : restore default settings" would clear settings for other users too. Bug fixed.
Version 4.19.33v 8/12/08

- There is a new data import option to inhibit the overwrite of existing lat-lon values.

- Fixed a bug that would cause a crash when editing filters that had descending order sorts applied.
Version 4.19.31v 8/08/08
- Some debug code was left in 4.19.30. When ever GeoFencing is attempted, you will hear a 'beep'. It has been removed. Bad programmer, no cupcakes for you.
Version 4.19.30 8/05/08
- Assigning lat-lon from LoadData to Services would sometimes fail for each record that generated an overwrite permission prompt. This has been corrected.
- You can now set the LFM to automatically assign the lat-lon from collected data records to their assigned Services. This will happen only if the Service does not already have a lat-lon assigned. See menu Tools : Advanced Settings : GeoFence Settings.
- Deleting all records showing (as controlled by the current filter) in the LoadData and GPS views is now much faster. So to delete a large number of records fast, create and apply a filter selecting those records that you want to delete, select all records, and delete.
- There is a new "right click" menu item available in the LoadData and GPS views to select all records and delete them in a single step.
- If you delete more than 100 records in any view and the speed up described in the previous items does not apply, a progress bar is shown as the data deletes.
- Bluetooth communications has been improved. Lots of little issues have been corrected and improved.
- It was possible that when assigning lat-lon from an address that you were prompted asking permission to overwrite an existing lat-lon when none actually existed. This has been resolved.
- If you deleted GPS data when a map was open, the map was not being updated correctly. Now the map will be automatically closed before any GPS data can be deleted.
- In some cases, the completion status of a satellite initiated data import was being truncated. This has been corrected.
Version 4.19.29v 6/25/08
- Non-LoadData reports have been fixed again, the 4.19.28 fix was incomplete.
- Demo mode is now disallowed when you are using an SQL database. SQL users can run a demo database by either temporarily switching back to a Jet database or by doing a temporary install on another computer.
Version 4.19.28v 6/23/08
- A memory leak when writing database information has been fixed. Note: A "memory leak" means that the amount of RAM used by the program keeps growing until it first slows down your computer and eventually causes it to fail. Depending on your computer and usage patterns this would take days or weeks. Stopping and restarting the previous versions of the Loadman Fleet Manager with this bug frees the memory being "leaked". The act of backing up the database (either automatic or manual backup; which you should be doing!) causes a restart and thus makes the bug less serious. Normally development tools will notify us of a leak so that it can be fixed before it is released, but this leak involved the database access layer and was not revealed by our tools.
- A bug causing a rare and intermittent crash during data import has been corrected.
- Non-LoadData reports that select one or more sort key now preview and print correctly.
Version 4.19.27v 6/03/08

Many filters that previously required manual editing can now be directly
created with the user interface.
Some new capabilities were added (eg: filter on Lat-Lon) that were not even possible with manual filters before.
This upgrade will cause the LoadData filter and column order for all views
will be reset to their default values.
- Filters have been added to the GPS view.
- Several new capabilities have been added to data import to more smoothly support a wider range of data sources.
- Correct the restoration of column order and the arrow label to indicate the primary sort column.
- Correct the problem with Route Download Name experienced by some upgrades to 4.19.20.
Version 4.19.20 2/06/08
- Data items that take part in relationships can now be hidden from view. For example, in the past, if a Truck is removed from you fleet it could not be deleted from the database until all references (such as load records) were removed. Hiding allows the Truck to be out of the way while still preserving the database relationship.
- When editing data on a map, a cancel option is now available.
- Command line login is now supported with the options /U username and /P password.
- Added "map" toolbar buttons to views that support maps.

Version 4.19.15v 6/20/07
- All collected LoadData and GPS data is journaled to the backup directory in it's raw format. In the event of a database failure that cannot be repaired, you can restore an old database and replay the journal to rebuild the database without loss of collected data.
- When collected data is being process and falls behind a bit, the LoadData and GPS data displays will be updated as the data arrives instead of waiting until the processing has caught up.
- A status line indicator has been added to show the current backlog of processing collected LoadData and GPS data. This will show the progress in processing a journal and should otherwise jump up as data arrives a quickly return to zero.
- There is now a one button backup command. This is ideal for a quick and easy backup after doing any significant editing or importing.

- New map software and data.
- Added Service Id to Route Stop view.
- Disallow access to report printing or design when the view is empty.

- Both maps and raw GPS data may now be viewed at the same time.
- The Pickup Time and Truck are no longer editable in the LoadData.
- The date range in LoadData filters will now take a negative integer to mean 'days ago'. So a range of -1 to 0 is today and -2 to -1 is yesterday. Default filters for today and yesterday have been added.
- The F5 key will redraw data views. For LoadData it will also reapply the filter. So if you go home while displaying data with the today's data filter and return in the morning and hit F5 it will show the new days data.

If you choose the SQL Server 2005, the online help will assist you with installation and setup of the freely available version of SQL Server 2005 (SQL Server 2005 Express Edition).
